The newly-published 2024 issue of Prince George’s Community College’s signature magazine, Progressions, is officially out; the issue celebrates the 65-year anniversary of the College. CSA’s Chrys Sbily acted as Creative Director, managing the editorial and design of the project. The theme, Legacy: Empowering People and Building Strong Communities, is a reflection of where the College has been and where it is going as it embarks on many exciting advancements. The special edition features 65 profiles, including faculty, administrators, students, alumni and leaders — some of the “anchors” who embody the rich diversity of the College and have helped drive its mission. Sbily wrote the entirety of the magazine, which included profiles of people who make up the fabric of this dynamic institution. “I was truly inspired by the dedication to the College’s vision that every person I interviewed shared; I was incredibly proud to help tell their stories.”
Founded in 1958, PGCC was the first educational institution to integrate in Prince George’s County, offering classes for 185 students. Today, PGCC serves nearly 25,000 students annually on a sprawling campus, providing high quality education and training for residents of Prince George’s County and beyond.
The magazine’s dynamic design features news about the expanding footprint of the College, part of the “campus reimagining” kicking off an ambitious 20-year vision. This issue is published at a time when there is renewed focus on the important role of community colleges nationwide. Many of these institutions are forging new directions in growth as they respond to an evolving landscape, one in which they are increasingly called upon to meet the educational and workforce needs of their communities.
